Care and Feeding of YourNew Collar I use heavy duty materials in the core of the collar. Because these products are new, the collar may be stiff in the beginning and become more flexible with wear. Please be aware that as this process occurs, the collar may need to be readjusted for size. Proper collar adjustment is important so that your dog does not back out of it at an inopportune moment. When the collar is pulled snug behind the ears, there should be about an inch gap between the rings that secure the control loop. I triple stitch all stress points for security, but please inspect your collar from time to time to make sure it is secure. Your fur kid is very important to me. If the slide is difficult to adjust you can use something smooth like a chopstick to gain some leverage and move the slide. Please be careful not to snag the fabric, go slow. Most Collars are machine washable. Place the collar in a nylon stocking, lingere bag or plain pillowcase and secure. Wash on the gentle cycle. I do recommend hand washing the silk tie collars. I also recommend using Woolite and cool water and allowing the collar to air dry out of bright light. Direct sunlight can cause fading. If the collar becomes wrinkled or has marks from the slider before adjustment, a dry iron can be used to erase these marks. Please use a pressing cloth or an old cotton pillowcase between the iron and the collar because synthetic materials can melt with high heat. This is especially important for the custom embroidered collars.I like using a sizing spray when I am erasing slider marks– I use Niagra on my ironables and I find it at the local grocery store. This also comes in handy if you shrink your favorite sweater– you can spray it on, and iron it back to the original size. Fancy collars can snag on teeth, so if your dogs are rough and tumble mouthers, some brocade and tie collars may be better suited for special occasions and not playtime. I am delighted to dress your fur baby, and appreciate any feedback. I want you to be happy with your purchase, and if your not– please let me know so that I can correct the problem. If you are not happy, your pupper won’t be wearing the collar and that is NOT why I make them.
I would love to have a picture of your pupper in their new collar, so please send me one and make my day!
